1. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL
  1. Warm up and stop the engine, wait for 5 minutes, and check that the oil level is between the Low and Full marks on the dipstick.

    HINT:
If the oil level is low, check for leaks and add oil to the Full mark.

    NOTICE:
Do not add oil above the Full mark.

  1. Warm up the engine until the coolant temperature is 75°C to 86°C (167°F to 187°F), and confirm that the oil maintenance indicator illuminates when driving the vehicle at 15 km/h (9 mph) or more with an engine speed of 1400 to 2600 rpm.

    HINT:
    1. If the oil maintenance warning indicator illuminates during confirmation driving after an oil change, check for an open or close in the engine oil level sensor (Click here). If there is a malfunction, replace the engine oil level sensor (Click here).
    2. If the oil maintenance warning indicator illuminates, the engine oil level is correct, and the sensor is functioning normally, then check the wire harness and connectors between the engine oil level sensor and engine control ECM (Click here).

2. CHECK ENGINE OIL QUALITY
  1. Check the engine oil for deterioration, water intrusion, discoloration and thinning.
If the oil quality is visibly poor, replace the oil.

3. INSPECT OIL PRESSURE
  1. Remove the engine oil pressure switch (Click here).

  1. Install the oil pressure gauge.

  1. Warm up the engine.

  1. Check the oil pressure.

    Standard:
    Engine rpm
    Oil Pressure
    770 rpm
    29 kPa (0.3 kgf/cm2, 4.2 psi) or more
    3000 rpm
    150 to 550 kPa (1.5 to 5.6 kgf/cm2, 22 to 80 psi)

  1. Remove the oil pressure gauge.

  1. Install the engine oil pressure switch (Click here).

  1. Inspect for oil leak.
